About me & the way I work
Hello and a very warm welcome. My name is Violetta (she/ her).
I grew up across cultures, lived in different countries as an adult and moved to the UK about 20 years ago. That journey shaped my sense of identity, belonging, connection and helped me embrace my own “mish-mash-ness.”
It also made me aware of how culture and history shape us: the roles we’re expected to play, the templates we’re asked to fit and the ways we learn to hide or bend parts of ourselves. I’m drawn to exploring how these forces, along with our lived experiences, influence who we are, how we relate and how we cope.
And it’s not only about people from visibly different cultural or societal backgrounds. Even within the same culture, no two people experience it the same way. Our individual lived experiences - challenges, losses, family dynamics or parts of ourselves we’ve learned to hide - often surface in relationships as clashes, misunderstandings or silence. That’s why I’m so drawn to working with relationships.
That’s also where anxiety, trauma, loss and low moods become part of the work. They often sit underneath these lived experiences - shaping how we feel in ourselves, in our bodies, in our relationships and in the world, as well as the ways we cope, connect and protect ourselves.
See here for my QualificationsThe way I work
Therapy with me isn’t about fixing you (that would assume you need fixing!). It’s about meaningful change - processing and untangling what feels heavy. That weight can take many forms: parts of yourself you’ve learned to hide, struggles with identity, relationships that don’t feel safe, trauma, anxiety, low moods, overwhelm or unhealthy patterns that keep repeating. The weights may look different, but they hold us down all the same.
I’m a qualified integrative counsellor with years of practice and experience behind me, but what matters most is that I’m still a constant learner. Curiosity, passion and a hunger to keep growing mean I’m always reading, training and developing, so I can support my clients in the most effective way I can.
That’s how my specialism took shape: working with anxiety, trauma, identity and relationship issues (with both individuals and couples, in any kind of relationship).
I believe the relationship between counsellor and client is at the heart of therapy. It creates the safety to explore at your own pace, in your own way. Working with me is collaborative - you are always at the centre.
In a world where so much is automated, therapy with me is human-to-human connection: real presence, real curiosity, and real compassion - not scripts or AI.
My practice is inclusive, culturally sensitive, and LGBTQIA+ and neurodiversity-affirming. No two people are the same, so I shape the work around you rather than fitting you into a model. Together we’ll explore what’s holding you back and find ways to manage challenges, while supporting the shifts that feel real and lasting
It might feel like a big step into the unknown but just come as you are. I’ll meet you there with openness, curiosity and compassion. We’ll work in a way that fits around you and together we’ll figure out what helps you feel more at home to be you. I’ll be led by your choices and your needs. Most of all, you don’t have to face this alone.
